Cold and wet here this evening...the daffs are starting to flower and the tulips are starting come up so perhaps you are right..spring is on the way Weighed last week and realised had to curb those comforting winter snacks so managed to be a little down this week...sort of lost it again today at afternoon tea time..nothing like hot toast pickle and cheese...tomorrows another day.. Anyone else getting ready for spring?

Hello Yvonne, Mum is much better but still probably 50% with the arm but now has a mouth full of ulcers and sore throat. She has my 14 year old nephew staying with her this week. She always enjoys his company. So she is much better but still "not there yet". She did however only stay Tues, Wednesday and Thursday night last week so that gave us both a break. It is nice for her to be there on Wed night as Dylan is there. Daughter seems much better thankfully though soccer practice Mon/Tues & Wed nights do sometimes take their toll. There isn't much of her (unlike me). She did come home for roast pork dinner last week. Mind, she does eat pretty well - loves veges and cheese sauces and her meat!!! Eldest daughter seems to have had yet another relapse of the flu symptons though. Actually younger one got blood tests for swine flu, glandular fever and a couple of other things and all came back negative and then probably the next night she started feeling much better. So that was really good.
Not muchlike spring in Auckland today!! Thankfully not as cold though. Am working hard at being back on track but unfortunately had a lolly binge last night. Felt so sick when I went to bed it hopefully taught me a lesson! my boy comes tonight so that keeps me on my toes (oh and he usually eats most of my dinner as despite the fact its exactly the same as his, mine looks better) Am thinking about exercise.... Got the new Ezibuy catalogue on the weekend and there are some lovely things in there... so clothes wise am sort of looking towards spring

Yes indeed spring is only a month away. We have daffodils flowering already, but then we have had a very warm, if somewhat wet winter.
Lynda, hope all is well with your family and they are all on the road to recovery.
Yvonne, don't leave us, we need you and would miss you too much.
Life has thrown me several curve balls over the last couple of weeks, one after the other in close succession. But we are getting back to normal now. Not on the plan right now, but not overeating or eating anything bad at all. In fact because I got sick I am now off all white flour and sugar and I ma feeling so much better. I am just starting to introduce grains back onto my diet starting today, but they will all be whole grains, so that should set me right.
Yesterday I had an all fruit day with lots of smoothies. OK I did also have about a half of cup of milk and a little yoghurt in my smoothies, but the rest was all good. Now I feel like I have recovered and even my cough has gone, so it was the right move to make at that time. I am going to continue without the white stuff so I should continue to get better.
Hubby had an accident and wrote my car off. Not a good thing! There was a petrol spill on the road and he hit it and rolled twice. Luckily he was in my big horn otherwise he might not still be with us.
My cousins hubby has the big C, so that is not good news and they are currently looking into the best treatment for him. A pregnant friend has a rumbly uterus and may have her baby early.
What else, I forget but I am sure that there was more.
On the upside, Daisy has held off having her calf while all that was going on. We are expecting it anyday now and she is showing all the signs of being very close. Now that I can catch my breath, I can focus on her again.
So how is everyone else going.

Hiya KM, Oh I thought everyone had gone. Thank goodness you are okay, and your hubby - I hope his back and neck aren't a mess with all that stuff!!! Sad news about the others though. I hope your friends baby is ok and the Big C is, well, you know...
My family are surviving. Mum is finally going back for a hospital visit this week. She was supposed to get an appointment 6 weeks after her last time there but that is three months ago now. We will see what they say. She is very unenergetic which is not like her at all and she is not eating well as she has ulcers in her mouth. She has lost about 3 kilos over the last 3 weeks. Her arm is still sore but she does do too many things with it unfortunately.
I am not looking forward to weigh in tonight as I have not had a meal at home since breakfast on Thursday!!! Oh, except for brekkie Friday and today! Sorry, I lied.
Was hubby's birthday on weekend so we went out for brunch with the kids and then went to Spencer on byron for the night. He had vouchers for dinner at Wildfire which was just lovely. Food galore. Its a brazilian bbq thing and they cut the meat off the skewers at your table and they keep on returning constantly till you turn this little green/red (stop go) thing over on your table!!! The food was nice. On reflection I probably didn't eat over my limit on the meat but I did have a pina colada (best I've had for ages) and I did have half a tiramasu which was pretty scrum!!! Had dinner at Waipuna Lodge last night and it was terrible - except for the fresh cooked fish everything else was pretty mediocre and I wouldn't hurry back there that is for sure. The highlight was the magician and the lady doing the blow up balloons. i got some for Dylan.
Glad there is someone to talk to again. I wonder if Night nurse is doing well for her big trek? I hope so.
Oh well, back to work. Don't feel like I've done much today!!
Take care and nice to know you back KM. I suffer when I have too much white stuff too!!! and dairy!!

Hey Lynda, Sounds like you had a nice time for your hubby's birthday. Don't worry too much about what you ate since it was really just a one off type of thing. Only a real problem if it is everyday. Sorry to hear that your mum isn't getting better, hope it is not bad news at the hospital. It has been so nice to have a couple of lovely warm days the last couple of days. I actually got out and did some gardening . Some of my jobs have been waiting for a while now . I do much better when the sun is out, and even got around to making butter with our lovely milk today as well. I have been doing pretty well food wise, if not strictly following the kk plan I have at least been keeping my meals small and healthy. I have even been making my own mayonnaise for the coleslaw, since all the premade stuff has sugar in it. And I mean the real thing with eggs and stuff, not the old fashioned condensed milk stuff. I baked some ginger snaps with nothing white in them. Haven't had one yet, but both the fussies have eaten some. Little miss fussy said they tasted different but good. Tonight I will be having a bit of sugar since I am making an apple and plum crumble with the fruit I bottle back in the summer yum This summer I will look into bottling safely without sugar so that will be better.

Hi there. Up 700 last night but hey, surprise, down again this morning!!! All that food had to weigh and hopefully its fairly transient! Mum is feeling heaps better today. The hospital visit is just a follow up. But there were some things in her bloods that needed looking at. She will be a terrible patient and if there is anything like the big C in there, I hope they don't tell her as she will just curl up. She was terrible when dad got sick and died with it. She couldn't cope at all with him being sick. It made it hard on me as I was the only one that went to all the hospital visits etc as she just couldn't cope doing it. It felt like I had two patients. I am possibly quite pragmatic and yes Its a bonus if things work out better but sometimes we just have to face the facts and do the best we can. Dad and I used to talk about it a lot and he told me in the October that he just wanted to go now, he'd had enough but he didn't pass away until the February. Mum wouldn't have him at home for a lot of that time and especially towards the end she wouldn't at all. Was sad and dad just wanted to be at home. Oh, well, she is certainly a lot better the last couple of days and has some energy back. I wonder if the hospital appointment has put some fire in her so she doesn't have to tell them how she is really feeling!!! She "forgets" so much when we go and I keep butting in, much to her annoyance!! But someone has to be honest about it! Anyway, I am back on programme and want to lose 5 kilos in the next 12 weigh-ins. Hopefully more but will aim at 5. We are off to surfers Labour weekend for the exciting V8 Nitro street racing... wooppee!! haha. It willb e nice to go away again. I don't have to go to all the racing. Son is coming too (had to convince husband that if he saves the money we should take him as its organised by the HSV club and they are doing some awesome things that no-one else really gets to do). So he eventually said yes. Okay, better do some work. Take care and eat sensibly. x

Grrr this house frustrates me sometimes. The old couple we bought it off never did anything properly so everything breaks and takes a lot of time and a plenty of money to fix it. So I finally decided I could stand the granny wallpaper in the main bathroom any more. So I bought the paint in the weekend and today I stripped all the wallpaper off. Here was being all very impressed that someone had actually sealed the walls properly and that I would be able to take my tin of sealer back to the store, when all of a sudden......there is just one little patch that is bare wall Hardly seems worth opening the sealer for it, but if I don't do a proper job I will regret it later. Food has not been too bad, actually I find I eat more if I stay on plan at the moment which means I am probably not eating enough the rest of the time

Don't you hate that KM when someone doesn't do the job right!!! Good on you, do it right and do it well. its the best way. I have had one perfect day on plan!!! Now I plan to string a few more to that. Regarding what you said about "if I eat the plan I eat better" - its so true. If you eat everything you are allowed on programme - planned snacks, carbs, protein, fruit, there really is no excuse to be hungry or feel deprived. Everything is there!!! So stay to programme and eat more!! I heard on the radio this morning, an interesting news item about bought coffee. I don't buy coffee when I am out as always too strong but one of Starbucks coffees - mocha of some sort - has 563 calories I think he said (500 and something) which is possibly equivalent or more than what you had for dinner last night!!! - Over 2000 kjs! One of the girls used to get me to get her starbucks sometimes and it was a mocha with two extra serves of chocolate and cream. Imagine what that would have been (oh and full milk of course). I do occasionally treat myself to a hot chocolate but its trim with no chocolate plastered over the top. But I have to be tired and extremely cold!! Oh I think they talked about an iced coffee having around 400 calories! I have always said I prefer to eat my calories than drink them. One of my downfalls on the weekend was probably the two pina coladas I had - one Saturday and one Sunday. Saturdays was delicious. Sundays wasn't so great. They are a rare treat for me and I usually prefer the ones I make myself. Anyway, work time, well its Wed have been here since 6.30. Finished my book whilst having breakfast. Have just read the third in the Twilight series. I have to admit, I so enjoyed it. Yeh I know it has vampires and now werewolves but such a lovely love story through it and no sex or drugs - its quite a pleasant change. Yes, I am weird, but thats okay. I like to read what my kids are reading. Someone asked why I didn't just get the movie Twilight out instead of reading - but I enjoy the reading part and you get so much more. Might watch the movie, but I prefer my imgination and they so often wreck that with the movie. SEcond in the series was just okay, and I skimmed a lot of it - got it fromt he library Sat lunch time and finished it Sunday night before 8.30! Off to do some work. Have a good day.

Hey Lynda I have recently read all four in the series. They were great, although the first and last were probably the best. I watched the movie of the the first book, but it was so slow that I fell asleep in the middle of it so missed the best part. All that deep thinking did not get well shown in the movie.
I have that paint headache today, always get that when we paint, and will probably have it for a few days yet. Still I hated the wallpaper that was on there, so it will be worth it in the long run.
Haven't really thought about food much today, but I am just heating/defrosting some soup for lunch. A bit late but never mind.
Its all that foamy milk in the coffee that adds to the calories, you could always ask for a long black with a dash of milk, and that would be less calories.
I use to do the low fat milk, but now I use our own from the cow. Not low fat but not altered in any other way either. I do let it settle and the scim the cream off to make butter or ice cream with though.

Hiya KM (and anyone else out there ) I don't drink the flash coffees so has no relevance to me anyway. I make myself one coffee a day and its all I have. Full milk plays havoc with me too so I use trim not as a "diet" thing but as a necessity!! I must get the 4th book. Wasn't sure if it was written but I should have known it was as I started reading in teh back of Twilight "Edwards story". It was so good ( I think I'm a bit juvenile in some of my reading) but it was just so neat and so I tried to buy it and the girl at Borders said you have to read it on line as the author was peeved that some of the book got leaked that she might not publish it!!! Damn it all!! Is the 4th one Jacobs story? I must ring the girls at the library and hassle them (it helps I used to work there and volunteer). Anyway week has been going pretty well. Mums hospital visit went wellyesterday. I had to laugh the "Dr" looked younger than my 20 year old!!! She was extremely thorough though. She asked me "Are you the support person" I said "No, I'm the person that is going to make sure she doesn't lie to you about anything!" It was quite funny. They seem happy with everything and we did get some straight answers so that was really good. Mum stayed last night and cooked a uymmy pork casserole for dinner. She has made stew for dinner tonight. Will be eating fish and chicken all weekend!!! Anyway I have been much nicer and patient with her the last 10 days even though she baked this week. I have managed to avoide 99% of it! So busy yesterday didn't know which way was up. The 3 hours out of the day for the hospital was horrific for the other girl in the office but I was back by 3. We had some settlements which of course, because I wasn't here, weren't straight forward!!! Have a great weekend. Take care.

Lynda the last one is called Breaking Dawn, and no it is not Jacobs story, but rather the conclusion to the saga, but if I tell you too much it will spoil the story.
Almost everyone I know (including me) had a rough day yesterday. Still another day today.
Glad to hear that your mother is doing OK, that will be one worry off your shoulders.
I have been pretty good with my eating even if it is strictly not to plan. Right now I seem to be having a bit of a yearning for pb sandwiches. Thats what I get for having fresh hot bread at lunch time. Hubby has his companies mid winter christmas tonight and it is a workers only affair. So just Miss Fussy and I for dinner tonight.
Just watched a little wobbly calf make its way across the paddock of the farm over the back, baby animals are so cute, but thank goodness we are not lambing this year.
