Hi out there I have just joined up to weigh in on line and am already getting scared about my first weigh in on Friday. I knew I should have waited until next week to join as there were so many distractions this week. However, if I hadn't joined when I did I would probably have dithered around for months. I am finding the day time quite easy but I get so hungry in the evenings and have had a few nibbles while cooking the dinner. I think I can allow myself to ease into the plan this week though. I would be glad of encouragement. :

Welcome Oceana! The online plan is great and Caroline is a lot of help on it too. Might have to go back on it just to have my daily chats to her again As for the snacking, are you having the late afternoon toast. That is to stop that snacking in the evening that you are feeling the need for. Don't feel bad about the weighin, and don't make excuses either, just view it as an assessment of where you are at and move on from there. Tell us a bit about yourself, and feel free to join in the spirit of the board, we have some good support help here.

Hello Oceana, Great to have a new voice on line. The only things that worked for me have been to make sure I have allowed for those snacks at night..and while cooking dinner (specially in winter) I sip on a cup of Bovril.
I am presently rereading Carolines book Middle Aged Diet to try and get the motavation to lose those last few kilos.
You will find some very helpful ladies on board here...looking forward to hearing more from you.

What a great journey you will be on Oceana. The programme is great and if you "follow the diet" it is amazing. I think one of the big things is to eat "everything you are allowed" - that is the full protein allowance (and weigh it so you know, especially initially so you know you are not being short changed) and eat all the fruit and carbs and daily and weekly indulgences. They can just stop you wandering off and doing an imitation of the programme (I speak from experience). Just do your weigh in on Friday and know that you did a better week than you would have done if you hadn't been on programme and having to weigh in. Good luck, though it isn't really "luck" - its planning and following that's the important thing. You can ask us anything - nothing is too silly - believe me I have had to ask some pretty basic things and thats what we are here to do - to share and help each other through. ALL THE BEST and we look forward to perhaps you sharing your weigh in. You will possibly see I had a really bad weigh in this week - up 1.6 and I make no excuses except I was silly. But i am back on plan and weigh in on Monday nights at a class.

Thanks for the encouragement you guys, its great to have someone to share with. I have done so many "diets" in the past and was really suffering from diet burn out. But, I decided to give it another go. I have 15kg to lose and I'm in no rush. Every kilo off is a kilo less will be an improvement. Looking forward to being part of the group.

Good on you Oceana. Don't think of this as a diet. The recipes make normal everyday meals that you can share with friends and family, so it is more like learning about portion sizes and maybe cooking a few things differently. I'll give you an example. I joined up in the middle of last winter, kind of on a desperate whim really. I had one of the books, but going to classes was not an option. Anyway I just happened to hit this point in the same month that the online plan was launched, and so I signed up. I had put a beef casserole in the crockpot that morning before I even thought of joining up, and then I had to see how I could make this work for the plan I joined at lunch time. Well I went through the recipes and found a beef casserole that was almost exactly like the one I had cooking, so the problem was solved. I just had wo watch my serving size and I was already eating onplan. Kind of makes you wonder why we need it if we are already making the food, but for me I just plain over eat.....often. Anyway, good to hear from you and we are all behind you every step of the way.

I am new to the diet as well, and this is the first time I've talked on a forum, so please tell me if there are any tricks i should know about.
I am on day eight. This is my hardest day so far, I so wanted to nibble, eat and go crazy. I'm scared of not being able to get through that.
I love the recipes. They are so easy to use and taste terrific.
Looking forward to chatting with you all
Jill

Welcome Jill, good to hear from you.
Don't be afraid of the forum as the rules are really simple. We are all here to support each other so that is what we try to do, simple as that.
Hang in there on your hard day, sometimes it helps to save one of your little indulgences for those times when you just have to have something. Also make sure you are eating all the food that you are allowed as then you won't be hungry.
Are you going to classes or are you on the online plan, or are you doing it on your own. Tell us about yourself - cos you know we are just all dying to know.

Hi guys Well the first week is over and the weigh in was not too shabby. I lost 400 grams, and considering that I had been away for the weekend for my husband's birthday and we ate in the hotel for two days, I am quite satisfied with that. I am finding the weekends quite tough. I have the weekday routine going well but, like everyone, the weekends are a different story. I will work it all out though and make the best of it. I am determined not to stress out about doing everything perfectly, and just doing things as well as I can. The recipes are good aren't they? I have even found some of the portions quite big, especially at night. Also I don't normally eat after dinner, so that is a habit I am not going to start now! I need a bit extra at morning tea though as usually I've had my run or other exercise by then and I'm famished! I suppose this is the secret to making this work for life, adapting it to fit our own lives. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Hey great work Oceana Good on you. it feels so good to lose when you have had a bit of a troublesome week and special occasions. I'd take the 400 grams and run and remember it could so easily have been up if you hadn't started the programme. I have weighin tonight - I go to classes - and I will have a good loss tonight - to counteract my terrible gain last week. I struggled a little on the weekend as I had desserts to make for a dinner (I'm a great baker and dessert maker) and I did try a bit. The worst thing was a couple of pieces of apricot slice that I made for my husband - silly of me to even make it but I had been so good I thought I could stay on track despite having it there. Some weeks I can and others its not quite so easy. But I am expecting a good loss. Jill, welcome to you too. Its great to have a few more people around. Our numbers fluctuate (a bit like our weight unfortunately) but you new ladies always seem to keep us more on the straight and narrow. Picking and looking for stuff - my advice would be make sure its programme food and I said last week when oceana asked for any tips - eat your full quantities and your daily and weekly allowances - especially if you feel like you are slipping. The fruit is great and I like to cut it up and sit down and know that I am eating it!!! not just munch on the run. also the other thing is distraction - I went for a couple of walks on the weekend - just short ones to the end of the street and it was enough of a distraction to help. Even log in here and let lose - its helped me too in the past. Anyway, good luck and do let us know how you are going. Have you weighed yet?

Well done Oceana any loss is a good thing and 400gm is not too shabby.
I to have a lot of trouble with the weekends, I know that if I go into a weekend with my weight up, it will not go down before monday. Wish I could tell the answer but for me having hubby home from wok is enough to through me out. Unfortunately he will be taking some time off next week so I could be in trouble.
Making it work for your lifestyle is what will keep the weight off long term. If you need to have a bigger MT but no dessert then do it that way, just make sure you do not go over your allowances.
Keep up the good work.

Hi All
I'm a little out with my timing. I seemto be on at different times to everyone else.
As for a little about me, well, to start with I'm in Brisbane, Australia. I am 47, a marriage celebrant with lots of weight to lose.
I live on three acres and I was sure when I moved here I would lose lots of weight because of the amount of work to do, but it turns out I can't quite get the work done because I'm overweight....catch 22.
So here we go for the life style change. Glad to be able to talk to others out there.
Cheers Jill

Well even if you are over the Tasman you are still very welcome. I think there is about a two hour time difference. What are your plans for your 3 acres. We have 13 acres just north of Auckland and so my lifestyle is completely different from say Lyndas. I do understand about the weight holding you back, but you are changing that now. Eating out of the garden really helps me to stay on track, and with it being the first day of spring today, I know the garden will be vamping up very soon. However the plum trees have nearly finished flowering and we have had so much rain that the bees have not been flying. I guess they find it hard doing there job whilst carrying an umbrella. Anyway, lots of rain means no bees. No bees means no pollination and no pollination means no plums. So no christmas plums for us this year by the looks. Keep us posted and feel free to chat away even when no one else is on. Often when you have a lot to lose you will lose it quicker and easier at the beginning, so that is encouraging. So with no classes overthere are you on the online plan, or are you going it alone.

Oh Jill, an Ozzie huh? I was actually born in Brisbane - my parents lived there for about 10 years - ran away from the family in NZ and had my two brothers tehre as well. We moved back when I was 7 so that was um... don't have enough fingers and toes but ... 45 years ago. My eldest brother has lived in Oz since he was 19 probably and is now resident at Surfers. My family have branches in Oz as well.
Well its good you are doing the programme and I will envyyou the Bowen mangoes which I adore and eat as many as I can once we can get them here and prawns. I remember once losing over 3.5kilos in 10 days in Oz on prawns and mango!!! Basically all I had and I loved every minute haha.
Anyway, we look forward to hearing how things are going. We seem to check in pretty often so don't be afraid to ask anything and someone will give you and answer - and haha you could get a few different ones!
