and it's kept my mind off eating even though I was handling food I'm feeling quite proud, I've done 5 largish jars of pickled onions, 7 bottles of chilli sauce and I've got 8 largish jars of beetroot. I've done pickled onions before but I've not made the chilli sauce or pickled beetroot, hope they turn out ok. Next weekend I want to make Lemon and Raisin Chutney and maybe some Worcestershire Sauce. Oh and I must make some good old fashioned tomato sauce as well, that's if I can find some cheap tomatoes. What's everyone else been up to???

Well done Swampy, you will be glad you made the effort when winter comes and you want something different to eat.
I have very successfully eaten my way through the weekend. Spent most of it in the kitchen cooking for varies social events. Today, we are having friends from the UK over for lunch, so we are having hot roast beef rolls, coleslaw, and other salads. Only have cookies for desert so might not even get there. But bottom line, I will try not to over eat, but don't hold your breath.
Friday will see us at the zoo with these same friends, so no good eating then either, so will have to be very good in between.
Nice to see you in the lounge Swampy

Hi there. Wow Swampy, what a great effort. Whats the lemon relish you made?
Weigh in tonight... will report tomorrow.
Was good over the weekend except someone gave me a Xmas hamper (haven't seen them since befoer Xmas) and it was the most delicious peppermint after dinner things. They are like a tiny cup cake with the little paper thing and then chocolate and then green mint centre. Oh my gosh. I have to admit to hiding them from the family!!! (oh yeh and eating them myself!)
Better be careful or I won't get that 4kilos by my birthday.

Tried a little of my chilli sauce tonight. Not too bad if I do say so myself Good luck with the weigh-in Lynda. I haven't made the Lemon Chutney yet, that's this weekends project but if you're interested here's the recipe Lemon and Raisin Chutney (from Digby Laws Pickle & Chutney Cookbook) Delicious with cold meats or curries or use as a sandwich spread 4 medium onions 5 large lemons 1 tablespoon salt 600 ml cider vinegar 1 teaspoon ground allspice 2 tablespoons mustard seed 500g sugar 125g raisins Peel and slice the onions, and cut the lemons into small pieces, discarding the pips. Combine the onions and lemons in a bowl, sprinkle with the salt and let stand overnight. Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan, bring to the boil and simmer for about 45 minutes, until the chutney is tender. Spoon into hot, clean jars and seal when cool

Hi there, Down 200. Better than nothing. i shall take it. I will stop buying Italia grapes and eating 3 servings at one sitting and I will stop buying whole watermelons and eating half at once! Oh and I made paul eat the last of the chocolate peppermints last night so they have all gone!!!
I have printed out the lemon chutney recipe now. Thanks Good luck for weigh in tomorrow.

Well done Lynda, I'm a tad nervous about tomorrow night. I don't think I've done too bad, but the scales will soon tell. Went out for dinner tonight. Went to De Fontein (the Belgian Pub) in Mission Bay. Decided since they specialise in pots of mussels then that's what I'd have. Even though the menu said you get 1kg of mussels I ordered it anyway , thinking the shells would weigh a lot so you wouldn't get that many. WRONG!!! You get heaps and I probably only ate half, if that. Must admit I didn't enjoy them so that helped with me not eating many. Didn't even feel like dessert, now there's a break through

Well Lynda I have to say that your overindulgences were nowhere near as bad as mine, so well done on your loss. 200gm is still 2oogm that you now don' have to carry around.
Swampy, sometimes things can surprise you so if you have been good most of the time, then it just might work in your favour. Good Luck

Hey ladies. Good on you for not having dessert. Its always a great thing that. Wow a kilo of mussells - hate them anyway but wow, how many servings would that be | wonder if I take out the weight of the shells? I jlust look at some serving sizes of some things in different placles - some you leave starving and others you wonder why they make the things the size they do!! I admit to ALWAYS checking out the dessert menu but can honestly say its rare for me to have dessert now. As I am a "home baker" often the things when you go out - at restaurants and bakeries and cafes, just aren't "fresh" or just don't taste as good as I make myself - they might look better, but they rarely are!
Good luck tonight Swampy
At class the other night Carolyn was talking about salmon and tuna. As you probably have heard me say I often have salmon and rice crackers for lunch - sometimes 4 days a week. Well Carolyn talked about not having too many tuna meals a week as in the States they are having high incidences of high mercury readings as many people eat it daily over there and it is high in mercury. Well I am not a great tuna fan so that is good. But then she said that salmon is really good for your skin. Well I have had many comments on my skin lately and even I had thought myself it was looking good but I have also been very good at my skin regime - but now I think that its a combination of the two!
Oh, in case Carolyn doesn't mention here KM she is going to be on Good Morning "On the Couch" on Friday!!! She didn't know what time at class on Monday, but thought I'd let you know.

Oh bummer I am going to be out all day on Friday so I will miss it. Wonder if we will get lots of new people on here after that.
My skin always looks good when I have a lot of green smoothies, should really keep it up more often so I know what you mean.

Not quite two in a row so I can't claim the queen title, kiwismum, I had a big gain last week. But all up I'm pleased with my progress, tonight was my third way-in and in total I'm 3.3kg down so that's pretty good in my books

Hello there, How was your weigh in last night Swampy? I didn't get there Monday. Going away for the weekend and it was the only night I could get my legs waxed. Had a busy weekend. Went to Top Gear Live which I quite enjoyed and I am not a petrol head. Off to Taupo this weekend for the Holden HSV Nationals (and no I really am not a petrol head). We go every year. Its quite a nice wee break away. I love the shpping in Taupo but shall refrain as baby's 21st coming up in 4 weeks.
Hope alls well with you too KM - and everybody else out there.
