Ah that explains it Smile I was just coming to post to you Lynda to see how your weigh went, and here you are already telling me. You are certainly sounding a bit petrol heady today Laugh

Friday was a lovely day, but a disaster food wise. However I have been good since then, so all is not lost. Swampy seems to be MIA this week.

No I'm here ladies.  My days just seem to whizz past at the moment and before I know it I'm being posted MIA Laugh

Weigh in tonight and I'm down 200 grams, which I'll grab with with both hands

Lynda, I sometimes think I'm turning into a bit of a petrol head, my nephew races motorbikes, it took me years before I went to watch him and now I can't get enough of it.  He's racing this weekend at Manfeild, it's round 4 of the Superbike Nationals.  Next month he's at the new Hampton Downs track for the 5th and final round, can't wait, it'll be a good weekend.  He's looking good to take the NZ title in his class this year, so we're all keeping our fingers crossed.

Hey Kiwismum, glad your weeks turning out for the better.  I'm going to try and stay a little more focused this week, I was a bit distracted over the last week Confused

Well, best go and cook dinner, my stomach thinks my throats been cut Yes

Hello everyone

My productive day meant cleaning out my wardrobe.  Not totally cleaned out but at least I can see my clothes now.  I found I was wearing the same few things as i couldn't get to my other clothes. Embarrassed

Glad to read how you are all going.

My weight loss is slow and I find I am weighing myself all the time, morning and night.  It seemed to work as a deterrent, but now I am not so sure.  Does anyone have any experience on this?

Cheers

Hey there Jill.

Don't worry about the weight coming off slowly, it is better that way. Remember that it didn't go on overnight, and as much as we will like it to, it won't come off overnight either. Roll Eyes

I tend to wear the same clothes all the time too, but then I have a different lifestyle than alot of people so it works for me.

As for weighing all the time, there are different views on that. If you get down if the scales go up a little then it is not so good. Whether you can cope or not, you will still need to have a set weighin day and time each week and that is the one that counts when you are determining if you have lost or gained.

Hi there ladies.
Take the 200 gm Swampy, sounds fair to all of us.  its down and added to your total!!

Carolyn always suggests Jill that we don't weight every day and certainly not morning and night - its really a false type of indicator as fluid intake and food just alters everything!!!  Some foods - like steak take far longer to break down than fish and chicken (so I believe Carolyn has said).   I do weigh my self maybe 2x in the morning during the week - but not always.  In all honesty when I know I have been realy good I try not to weigh as if the scales don't show it, it annoys me and then I can easily be STUPID Yes and "punish" myself - what a waste!!

Hey KM maybe its time we made a pact to do the damn diet (its Carolyns motto this year).  I can say I have cut out the rubbish but I then have to report that I have been overeating on fruit - grapes, peaches, plums (but they all gone now), watermelon - and well all my favourite fruit of thsi time of the year.  So, doing that of course, is NOT FOLLOWING THE DAMN DIET!!!

We are off tomorrow morning. I will have my pedometer on so will make sure I get out there and do some traipsing around the shops.  If they have a gym where we stay I might even go and use it!!

Have good weekend...

Could do Lynda, I follow it most of the time, so just have to sort the weekends really. How close are you until the 4kg goal before your birthday.

Hi Ladies

I was not well on the weekend due to a tummy bug....the scales look good right now but I'm not expecting that to stay off.  Although  I don't feel to inclined to eat rubbish foods at the moment, the thought of them is not good.

I think I do tend to "punish" these days, so my promise for this week is NO SCALE WATCHING.  Except for Thursday which is my weigh in day. Angel  and, of course do the damn diet.

Good luck to everyone for a successful and productive week.

Oh Jill, Not so good, I hope you are recovering well.

If you can keep off the scales until thursday you might get a very nice surprise, especially if you can stay on the plan until then after being unwell.

Howdy ladies.
Good luck tonight Swampy.  how did your nephew? go in the bike racing - was it weekend gone?
My weekend in Taupo was pretty good. Spent too much money on one skirt and one top - my only defence was - um, I wanted them!!!  The skirt was on sale, less than half price reduced from $460!!!  It looks great on me and that was all the excuse or reason I needed.  It just meant that instead of buying 4 or 5 things with the money I had allowed, I only bought 2!!  that is my reasoning - and besides I AM WORTH IT!!!
Didn't make it to weigh in.  One of those days that I should have gone - haven't been on the scales since Friday.  I was silly on Sunday arvo and then on Monday. Titchy (or something rhyming) and well, quite frankly - just stupid!!  Emotional eating at its worst - but am so over it. Onwards and downwards (weight wise) - not mood wise!!!

Oh KM I think I am 2.1 off my 4 k goal.  I can do it if i do the damn diet from now to my birthday in 2 1/2 weeks!!!

Hmm big ask there now, see how close you can get.

Nothing wrong with getting new clothes, and not much point in buying something cheaper that you won't wear so much. You stayed within budget so good on you.

I have been good since sunday, the rest of the weekend was pretty much my normal over eating, so an improvement really. Today is wednesday, it is the one day that I allow myself a little bit of chocolate, and today I am actually looking forward to it. It is good to give myself permission because it stops the binge eating at other times.

Thought it was time i checked in here again.

Friday was field days in Dargaville, and we had a really great day. The weather held out nicely and we got around everything we needed to. I did however eat my way around, although I tried not to get too carried away.

We began with a big breakfast, mostly because I don't travel well on an  empty stomach, the fuller the better for me. By the time we got there it was almost 10.00am. Shortly after that we came across the UFO stand, and they had yummy smoked mussels, who could resist, they gave me four on the plate and since I am the only one of us who eats them so I scoffed the lot and called it morning tea.

Later that morning we had a mini cheese tasting and coffee at the fonterra tent. Lunch I just had an old fashioned type of chicken filled roll and a bottle of water so not a bad lunch really. Afternoon tea ended up being a tasting of a new flavour of sausage. It was a small breakfast sausage size so not too big.

And yes in amoungst all that eating we did check out quite a few other things so it wasn't all about the food, just some not so great options. However when I think back to all the other stands that we didn't bother with, Hells Pizza, hot dogs and chips etc, I didn't do too badly really.

Any way most of my weekend eating for a change was very good and very close to plan, so I am starting a monday with a good start on the week for a change.

Good field days for you KM.  Kumeu are on this weekend.  I won't go. Used to go all the time. considered taking grandson but he was bad enough (sohis mum said) at the Coatesville Markets!!

I was up 500 last night.  Was annoyed as was down 1kilo Sunday morning.  Went out for dinner Saturday night too and only ate a little of it and NO DESSERT!!!! Unheard of. We went out for our 27th Wedding anniversary.

On track, and was before weigh in!  Annoys me when that happens but c'est la vie!!!

Must watch the fruit. Bought some delicious Kumeu grapes yesterday from the orchard and ate them, well probably 100gm of them before weigh in!! Haha.  I will try not to stop on the way home tonight!

Thank you ladies for keeping it real for me. I just started a week ago. It's encouraging to know the see saw effect is all part of this journey.
Yesterday I was so busy tearing around between appointments that I forgot to eat lunch. I kinda made up for it with a sneaky half glass of wine after dinner. I managed to get to the gym early afternoon for a class though so that's my big achievement. Today I'll squeeze in a massage which is my treat for loosing half a kilo this week. Yay! although my scales can only measure increments of 1 kilo so it's a pretty rough weigh in. Still I figure I'm eating a lot less than I used to.
Thanks for the inspiration cheers xxxx.

Welcome NN, and well done on your 1/2 kilo this week. What a great start.

One of the big keys of weight loss is to realise that you don't have to be perfect all the time. It is not an all or nothing type of thing. You have to live your life, and if that means to being perfectly on plan all time so be it. As long as it is not every day you don't have too much to worry about.

Funnily enough losing weight is easy once you get into the swing of things, but first you need to work out exactly which swing that is for you. For instance I cannot do carb free nights because of blood sugar issues, and if I try I end up having a big bingy blowout for several days afterwards. I can however do carb reduced, as long as it is not more than three days in a row. This means my loss is slower but at least I am developing a pattern that I can live with long term, and it no longer feels like I a will have to be on a diet forever. So I avoid the no carb swing altogether, and leave it free for those who can cope with it.

It is also great that you have found a nonfood way to reward your effort. I think reward is important when you are trying so hard at something. Keep up the good work.

Lynda, isn't it funny how things work to baffle us sometimes, sorry about your gain, hopefully it will come right next week.

We love Kumeu show too, but don't know if we will get there this year. We are fairly fussy about which ones we go to, but Kumeu is normally one we make the effort for.
