This is silly, isn't it?

I won't tell you what I want to write about but I do have several stories mapped out. Just need to put in the hard yards. Target audience is kids 8-12 years. I figure I should be able to do it if I actually pull finger.  ;D

What a fantastic opportunity for you to realise your dream KG - grab it with both hands - not everyone gets the chance! I guess only you know the difference the $$$ from the job will make to your family but don't use it as a convenient excuse for giving up on your writing.

Whatever you decide I do hope you manage to get a book underway very, very soon!

I believe writing in a coffee shop will guarantee success a la J K Rowling!!  Wizard

Thanks, Scotty. To be honest, the coffee shop is where I've been heading, 9am each morning, for two hours. Just to write fiction. If I stay home, my housework and the dog call, call, call to me. I end up moping and doing nothing about anything.

I think I mentioned somewhere else on these boards that I was offered another job today. I'd love to find myself a job, just so I can say that I set out to sell myself and was successful... but word of mouth seems to work faster than looking at job vacancies. Anyway, I've not said yay or nay.... these people employed me for three months before my last job and I find it fascinating that they want me back.  ;D

Tomorrow I'm off to interview the Captain of the Doulos which is a very old ship in Auckland harbour at the moment. It was built two years after the Titanic, and is the oldest ship in the world to be sailing. Check out http://www.doulos.org if you want to see it.

Better go! Need to finish researching as much as possible tonight, and create a list of 50-60 questions... not sure how long the Captain is going to spend with me, but every moment must count!

You girls are inspiring!  :yup:Kiwigirl its great to see another New Zealander here.. Im a Wellingtonian though  Laugh Tongue

I walk 5km 6 days a week. I mean to go in the mornings but most days the walk gets put off till the evening.

I love the idea of skipping, im going to add it to my daily workout. Just the other day I saw a skipping rope in the spare room! I've just taken a look online about the benifits of skipping and the results seem astounding.
''It has also been stated that 10 minutes of skipping has the same health benefits as a 45-minute hard run. An interesting thought for those of us with hectic lifestyles who use the excuse that we can't find time to exercise! Research carried out by Reebok also found that skipping burns more calories than jogging and football. It is portable and convenient as it can be done anywhere and be performed at all levels. Beginners can mix shorter bouts of skipping with longer periods of lower-impact/intensity exercise such as marching in place, step-ups etc or strengthening exercises such as sit-ups, press-ups etc.''
