Well we have just finished the lasagne and I had to rush on here and tell you all about it. Now bear in mind that Miss Junior fussy hates pumpkin. Confused

So this recipe was easier to make than normal lasagne and miss fussy doesn't really like normal lasagne.

We have voted and she has begged that this meal needs to go on our make again list, and maybe even to be made often. Hungry

So a hit in our house even with the pumpkin. If she is not careful she will get to like it. Wink

Yes and whats more Miss Fussy was amazed to discover that there was pumpkin in it.

Not sure what new recipe I'll make for today, but it will probably have pasta in it since I only used a third of what I made yesterday for the lasagne.

I will keep you all updated lated.

Hmmm In thinking about this I think my biggest challenge is my hubby Laugh

He has a generous heart and likes to share, and also has a saying.... "You can't be finished, you still have food on your plate.."

Needless to say he needs to lose some and in fact seems to be expanding rather than shrinking. He has trouble leaving food and can't understand how you don't need to eat everything on the plate. And of course there is the whole come home in the evening with a little treat, usually chocolate or lollies. And of course he has to have his supply of larger chocolate bars and potato chips, in case he feels peekish.

It makes it all very difficult sometimes as all this is always here and as fast I get rid of it he replaces it.

But I am pleased to announce that I think we have a packet of potato chips that have gone stale Embarrassed

My new recipe today will be the Fruity curry Sauce in the KK Diet cookbook..I am going to cut up last nights left over beef and heat it in the sauce...not for my daughter though, she can have her meat as is and make a sandwich if she wishes..I know she wont eat the sauce ..or potatoes or silverbeet...so...

Tomorrows challenge will be mutton shanks..I will use the kk recipe but cook them in the crockpot...

We never seem to have food leftover on plates but I think thats because I only tend to cook enough for a serving..daughter of course is different she leaves food cause she doesnt like it!  Hard to imagine shes in her 30s Smile

Although I will eat potato chips and some sweets (and all chocolate) if its there its not something I ever buy..my snacks are mostly of the food sort..sandwich, cheese, biscuit, icecream...and yes my hubby could certainly lose some weight, as it is he is on meds for high blood pressure etc..you cant make adults change they have to choose their own lifestyle..he gave up smoking years ago after ending up in hospital with hb pressure...

I thought I had trouble with that last post, and I see I managed to get it on both threads - sorry!

I have just put a Maple fruit and nut loaf in the oven for afternoon tea. It was in the middle age spread book and was very easy to make. I used sultanas instead of dates because I don't like dates and almonds instead of walnuts because I don't have any walnuts.

Will let you know later what it tastes like.

We are meant to be having a fine day here as well and on the strength of that and the fact that we had three days without rain, I went ahead and washed all my blankets. Now I have a line full of wet blankets and it is very overcast and looks like it is going to rain  Sad Fingers crossed it is just a passing cloud.

Pity you cant email me your blankets, its just blue sky  here..back from my walk and have a bedspread in the wash..someone dug a hole (after field mice) and then jumped on the bed..

I am pretty sure I have tried that loaf, I generally put a tick by them in the index (or a cross)..cant remember how it turned out..I know the sultana tea loaf (name?) doesnt go down that well here...

Well it didn't rise much which surprised me, will see what it tastes like later.

The lamb shanks are very nice, they won the make again list here, so I hope you enjoy them.

Hasn't rained yet so I am still hopefull.

Hope you like the loaf..have tried the shanks before and they went down okay..also cooked that recipe using chops..my original recipe (idea) was simply to roast/bake them and have them with mint sauce but have tomatoes still in the freezer from last year that I want to use up so change of plan.  I think that recipe has tomatoes....And if I dont turn the oven on (will use the crock pot) there will be no temptation to cook anything else Laugh

I really must get off this computer grab a dog and get in a walk before the weather turns cool!  Have just posted a new question to the forum..soda water..what can one sibstitute for it.  Looking thought the egg and cheese section of the archives there are a few recipes I could try but too lazy to go through the index of the books and see if they are already there Smile

I suppose if soda water is fizzy?? perhaps a little baking soda in water would do?  really dont know....

Pleased it went down well.  I noticed at the bottom of some recipes it says kiwi kiss 2 (where the allowances are)..wondered if this meant they where new recipes not in the books?  But after having another look dont think so...

Did you get the blankets dry?   I do like this weather, not as hot as summer, nicer for walking and working in...

Hi ladies,
Well you have been busy while I have been away for a long weekend.
It's taken me about 20 minutes to get through posts that are just here.

So, a few questions - what was the lemon dressing you were talking about for a salad/pasta and where is it? Please....

The lasagne recipe with pumpkin?  Where was that and what was it called... please

I used to set myself a target of two new KK recipes week.  Often I did more but in those days I wasn't working every day.  My mum has made me old fashioned chicken maryland tonight - nothing like it is today.  It isn't really KK totally legal but I don't always use my weekly allowance and it does have wine in it.  I have been easy on my other carbs etc today so shouldn't be too terrible. But it is a treat.

I will think about a new recipe but not for tomorrow as its my long day - leave home by 6am and travel across Auckland before the peak hour traffic. Then pick dylan up after 5 plus I have chiropractor so having said all that must plan my meal for tomorrow or it will be not programme....

Well done Lynda, 500 down and with a weekend away as well, you must have been so good.

Herbed Vegetable Lasagne, I got the recipe off the website, but then I don't have all the books so it could be in the one I don't have.

Look forward to hearing what you come up with.
