OK, its and new year and I still need to lose some of these kilos. I haven't as yet signed on again for any of the online plans, but might do if need be. So I am hoping that this will be my accountabilty thread, were I have to put the good, the bad, and the shouldn't be shouted outloud so that I can stay on track while I get back into the groove of it all.

I hope that others will join me here and we can help and encourage each other along the way.

I have pulled out my MASD and decided that for this week at least I will try to follow the detailed plan as best as I can. Out here I can not always get the things I need so there may be some subsitutions but I will do my best. Will try to pickup some smoked salmon(if I can find any) while I am out today for tomorrows lunch, I think that will be the hardest thing to find.

So I have had a poach egg on a piece of toast with my morning coffee this morning, and because I had it so late that will be it until lunchtime, where I will have a BLAT. It is funny that I was just saying to hubby that I was going to have that for lunch, and then I pulled out the book and there was for lunch on monday of week one. Good timing.

Anyway kif kanyone else wants accountabilty, then feel free to join me here.

Good idea, so here is one recruit! Smile  For the first time since mid December I weighed this morning, scales where fluctuating a little so decided on the slightly higher number..2 kilos up.

As I have this weeks recipes, food etc I can only help myself by..Portion control.    I will limit carbs (no more taking 3 or 4 biscuits when one would do) and alcoholic drinks.  No more standing at the bench eating custard from the container Embarrassed     I think most lunches this week will be salads and protein.

I will increase my exercise even if its only another trip to the mail box or a walk around the yard looking at the flowers or for the odd weed.  And will start wearing my pedometer to try and make those ten thousand daily steps plus more.

At the end of the week when I shop will carefully choose recipes and plan for a better week...once the extra 2 kilos have gone then I can start on the extra 3 or 4 that are all sitting on my stomach and proving hard to shift (but I know its my fault not theirs Embarrassed  )

So, come on eveyone lets join Kiwismum and her drive to dump those kilos!!

Good on you Yvonne, I will be looking to see what extra exercise you have done each day, so make sure you post it.

I managed to get some nice salmon so that will take care of tomorrows lunch, and so far today so good. Wink

Anyone else wanting to jump on feel free, the more there are of us the easier it for us all.

I love salmon, specially poached!   Day is going okay here as well.  Have been for a walk and now am going out to hoe the weeds in the veg garden, the rain and wet weather has really seen them grow.  Took half an hour before lunch and using the hedgeclippers cut along the edge of once fence getting rid of weeds.  So thats extra.

Plan to turn a tube of sausage meat into patties for dinner but if I only have two that should be fine, and plenty of veg.  Its the evening thats going to be the worst time!

Keep up the good work KM.    Anyone else facing a challenge today?

Oh well done on the exercise Yvonne Thumbs Up That is day one one the exercise done for you.

I have found that it is not the meals that cause me problems but all the extra little snacks. It is so easy to just pop something in my mouth especially at this time of year, there seems to be so much food around everywhere I go.

And yes I sooo know what you mean about the evening eating, but I have to confess my sins then I am more likely to stay on plan, so tell me tomorrow how you went tonight.

A big hello to anyone dropping by to 'chat', another nice day here in the Waikato.  Not that I have spent much time outside, making a two week shopping list and getting ready to groom a dog has taken up most of my morning.

Hi kiwismum, how did your evening go?   No 'off plan' snacks??   No Way
I spent an hour digging and hoeing the wretched weeds in the veg garden before starting dinner last night so that was my extra exercise for the day.   Veg garden is my husbands domain but sometimes the weeding gets on top of him so I dont mind that chore.   Went in after my hours very hot exercise and straight to the fridge for a can of ice cold...diet coke!  Dinner was conservative just lots of steamed veg and a sausage meat patty ( probably less than 2 sausages) with a apple and onion gravy...did allow myself a small tub of ww icecream later in the evening so all in all was quite pleased with the day. Smile Smile Smile

Nothing bad to confess from this end...anyone facing challenges today?   I hope after my walk this afternoon to get in another hours weeding later in the day...dinners under way in the crock pot so will have time to spare. Smile

Oh that was good Yvonne, I always have weeding to do in my garden and never seep too get on top of it.

I had a perfect day yesterday eating wise, so I am pretty happy with that. This mornings breakfast said cornflakes in the book, but I don't like cereal so I made a smoothie with a few strawberries, yoghurt, apple, oats and some nuts and seeds so that is Ok.

It is another beautiful day here, and I have been bringing my horse back into work after the long winter break, that gives me an extra source of exercise too.

Keep up the good work everyone. Smile

Thats great, I wondered how you where going.   Today so far food wise has been okay, choice of protein for lunch (left over sausage meat ball sliced through a salad) may not have been the best choice but until I shop I eat whats here.  Off now for a walk....

Do you compete with your horse?  What happened with the elderly one you where looking after?   I imagine grooming would give you a good work out..who needs a gym when you have animals Smile

who needs a gym when you have animals Smile

Exactly the animals and the garden can keep me pretty busy at times. Things are pretty quiet right now, but soon there will be the autumn harvest to be taken care of.

The old boy is still here, his owner doesn't bother with him, but when I suggested he had reached the end I was squashed pretty hard. He still looks thin, but has put on some weight - poor boy.

I don't compete any more but did up until I did my ankle in a few years ago. Now I just ride for my own pleasure.

You sound like me I tend to eat what I have here, making the meals fit rather than not doing it because I don't have the right stuff. I have fussy eaters and I hate cooking, so I have to make what people will eat. Luckily on KK everything seems to fit somehow.

It was great being able to do the plan in the winter without feeling like I had to eat salads all the time. I had the salmon and cream cheese sandwich, which I do have to say was really yummy.

Salmon and cream cheese does sound nice, my problem would be resisting another sandwhich (specially in the evening)...

I will buy products to suit the low cal meals but they have to be practical and within budget.   Tonight I am turning (hopefully) some rather tough schnitzel into something edible in the crockpot, added onions and a packet of tomato soup so may not fit exactly to plan but until I shop needs must.

I do like cooking and have fussy eaters...hardest time is weekends when husband cooks as its often pork with crackling or he likes to mix different proteins  (will have the meat dish, then something made with milk, cheese, bacon or whatever etc etc)  and it does end up high calorie so just have to cut down during the week or exercise more Smile

Glad to hear the old horse has gained some weight. I guess the coming winter may be the deciding factor.   Perhaps they could stable him in the really bad weather?  It is very hard to make that final decision but I know with the dogs you just know instinctively when you cannot do any more for them and the kindest thing is to let them go..even if it does break your heart Sad

Oh well, back from my walk, thank goodness there was the smallest of breezes!  Time now to feed the animals, have a much needed coffee then head out for a hour or sos weeding...just hope I dont melt in the process!

Hmmm have to have a bit of a change of plan for tonight. Stopped at the butchers after dropping off some kids and they didn't have any chicken breasts that weren't frozen. So are going to have thursday nights pork chop instead.

I don't normally buy what I want to cook on the day, but for this week only I was going to try following the plan. I guess that has gone out the window today. Never mind, I can still get into the mindset, and I don't like pork much so not much chance of overeating tonight. Now I need to just go and get enough veges from the garden and we will be right.

Rest assured that I don't buy salmon very often but it was on the plan for this week so I indulged Embarrassed

There is a nice recipe for pork chops in the MASD book..is it glazed chops?  cant remember but never mind switching dinners wont affect your outcome long term so keep up the good work.

Dinners over here, dishes done, had to take a couple of buckets of water to some specially droopy plants...tomorrow will get serious and water properly.  After my hot hour outside I came in and had another cold diet coke!  Dont specially even like the stuff but better than joining husband who is having ice cold beers!

I replied to your other letter but cant see where it has gone..cyberspace maybe..I found the lamb recipe in the recipe part of this site..yes crock pot would be a gentler way to cook lamb steaks...have no plans to try it as yet just copied the recipe out.  Some of the cheaper mutton cuts I cook the day before, take the fat off then reheat..if I followed that recipe could reheat and add dumplings then..

Yes that sounds like it would work out OK.

Have done well on my eating so far today and skimming through the book I see that I can have 1/4 cup of ice cream and some strawberries, so that is what I will be having this evening.

The good news is that I resisted the very yummy looking ginger cookies this afternoon and instead waited until I got home again and had my proper snack, I was quite hungry by then too. Confused

Big pat on the back coming your way, well done! Smile  So its Day three, lets hope all goes smoothly today.  I have a small confession, one oclock this morning I just had to eat something, ended up with one slice of sandwich bread thinly spread with left over tomato and onion gravy (no marg or butter) so it could have been a lot worse and it did help settle that 'need to eat something' so I could sleep.

Chicken pieces on the menu tonight, will stay with the recipe I intended to do (just sprinkled with paprika etc and baked) even though its not kk, will remove the skin after I have cooked mine Sad

Looks another nice day so had better go do some work, want to catch all the rinse water from the washing machine and water some containers.  Bye for now.

Well I think you were better to eat something since you were so hungry than to try and tough it out and end up binging later, so probably a good call on your part.

I have had an omelet and fruit for breakfast so that is all good.

I have to confess that I have eaten more bread while following this than I normally would, but I have only been following the plan. For example day one, I had a piece of toast with my egg that morning, then two pieces of bread at lunch, followed by the afternoon toast. That's four slices of bread in one day. Normally I wouldn't eat that many unless I was having a PB moment. I must say that I don't want to eat that many everyday as I am not really a bread/potato person, but I will admit that having all that bread throughout the day makes it easy to not have a starchy carb at the end of the day.

Another really hot day here today so will get lots of washing dry and sort some weeds.

The rest of the salmon is for tonight, but I am the only one who will eat it, so I will have to make a second dish Eek Not something I will enjoy.
