Welcome back KM and thanks for the slap ? back at ya though for being AWOL!!!  I had no-one to talk to for awhile with you and Yvonne gone.  I wish I could put that picture up for Mum!!!  She never stops.  She is looking a bit fragile of late so I just smile and give it away ? its just the damage from when I get it and when I get the chance to give it away!!!

Haven?t found my pedometer.  I joined up for the Southern X and Sanitarium steps programmeyesterday as you get a free pedometer.  I am going to make all the kids join as well so I have a supply of them!!!  Wow, I only got over 10k steps twice but I would have on the weekend as well.  I will aspire to it as soon as I get my new one.  At least I found my fave bra!!!

Pamela ? why won?t you have power???  I know you said you woudn?t  but I don?t think you said why. (or I?m just forgetful) ? GOOD LUCK FOR WEIGH IN

KM -  Your comment about baking bikkies vs bought.  Carolyn was talking about that in class and she made the point if you bought something like ginger kisses they have 20 ingredients in a bought packet and I think it was 7 in home made?. what do all those other things do to us???  It?s a very interesting point!!!  I rarely buy stuff like tht when I am out as it never tastes as good as my baking or desserts.
The apple crumble in the ramakins sound good.  Do you freeze them like that?  What are the ramakins made of?  One of our favourites is the crumble with the lemon zest in it -  lve it with apple and frozen raspberries. It?s a great one to take out and cook at friends when we go out.
You talk about Kumara and potato is interesting.  There are some rubbish kumara around right now and I always manage to get the ones that taste yuk!!  I would gladly have them instead of potato.

Anyway, should go and do some work.  I think I might have baked beans on toast today for lunch.
Oh, its my 26th wedding anniversary today.  We normally go out for dinner must see if we are.  Don?t really want to go out as we had all those meals out on the weekend but will chck with the boss, well with Paul anyway! Haha

Well happy aniversary, that is a good long haul that you have done together. Drunk have a good one. Enjoy it and pick up the pieces tomorrow. Wink

I have always been a kumara girl so it is good to get them nice a fresh. Actually judging by the size of the kumara truck that tried to run me over this morning they should be getting new season ones down your way very soon.

Sorry to hear that your mum isn't doing too great right now lynda, hopefully it will pass quickly.

I have made the apple galette and some peanut brownies this morning, burnt the peanut brownies a bit so should be able to resist them OK Embarrassed. I did end up opening a bag of roasted salted nuts after lunch and munched my way through a fair few of them Sad shame on me.. I certainly need a slapping after that.

Funny Carolyn talking about that in your class and then me saying it. I did notice when I was on the online program that often what had been on my mind was often the topic on her class snippets, a bit spooky really Big Eyes

Anyway my challenge is to not eat much of what I make so I need to try and find those things that I eat less often... is there anything like that.

 Confused Confused Laugh

...two things
I'm not sure if I would knw what it is you eat less often so I don't know if there is anything like that!!  Laugh
And secondly, I'm so confused now I think I should just go home....
haha

Just like to say - its been great chatting again as you girls do keep me honest and on track.
Thanks so much Smile Cool  Am off to celebrate Drunk (haha only have to smell alcohol to feel lightheaded!!)

Have a great night... I plan on it, if only I could get rid of my 21 year old for the night!!! Don't like my chances.... oh well... I can still be good  Angel

Hmm makes sense to me, then I often find that others don't have a clue what I am talking about. Let me try to explain.

Hubby wants me to bake again. I only stopped because I kept eating it. If I bake things I don't like then there is less chance of me eating them. I just have to work out what those thing will be.  Is that clear as mud still.

It is very bleak outside although it seems that the wind has dropped a bit. Didn't shut the calf up last night so no milking in the rain this morning, I can sit here with my feet up and stay dry in front of the computer. We have been on a heavy weather warning since yesterday. At least it is not cold.

Tonight is f&C night so I will probably make a nice big fresh salsa to go with it. This is what I did last winter and it seemed to work well for me. Last night was spaghetti sauce in the crock pot on top of spaghetti squash so not so bad just ate a bit too much of it.

The galette came out nice, and I only had one small piece of it and no cookies Wink

Hope you had a good night Lynda, I'm not even going to ask you what you ate. Today is a new day.

Hi there

Yes KM -  I understand totally now.  Yes I love to bake so if I really feel I must I try and bake things I don?t paI;rticularly fancy as then I won?t eat them.  So am with you on that!!!

We ended up having Thai takeaways as I don't cook on my anniversary or birthday!!!

Weather was bad but fortunately power didn't go off but I believe most of the area around us was off for ages!!!  Its not often we miss it.  I was so worried I would miss Coro St!!!

Having baked beans on toast for lunch today - though I feellike something much nicer!!  I shall refrain.

I;ve never had one of those spaghetti squash - are they nice?

Lynda they are interesting, they don't have a lot of flavour by themselves, but little miss fussy likes them. I also work on the theory that there are less calories in a serving of that than in plain old spaghetti so it is a win either way.

Not a big fan of Thai food but it is always nice not to have to cook. Glad the power didn't go off and that you had a good celebration.

Well two days off the computer and you have been a busy bunch.
Firstly con grats on the anniversary Lynda hope you had a nice one. Love Thai personally.
I wont bake for the same reason I will be tempted to try. My daughter in Welly has asked me to do some baking for her and post it over. I am going to make her one of those uncooked slices with the biscuits and comdensed milk and oranges. I will just post the whole thing uncut to her so no temptation.
Never tried spagetti squash either. But if there is no flavour I don't think I will bother.
Got some kumera yesterday that are supposed to be 'new season' will see tonight.
Power off for maintenance on the line at the bottom of the valley about 40km away. We often get it off all day like that. It is frustrating at times, but I filled the termos and I was fine, it was cold and damp so I had the fire going and a good book and the cats so all good.

OK so I might have done the squash a bit of a misservice. When I say they have no flavour, I mean they don't take over the other food you have with it.

They probably have more flavour than those packets of dry pasta you can buy in supermarkets, but then I prefer to make mine fresh on the day and better yet add some spinach or something to it. I have served the squash as a side dish with just parmesan and a bit of salt and pepper, and it has been fine, but is better with some sort of pasta sauce on it.

I have had a bit of a cookie binge so I am not too happy with myself so I need yet another slapping - wheres that lynda when you need her. Wink

Roast lamb tonight one of my favourites with my homemade mint jelly yummy Chef

Oh KM I feel for you with the cookie binge. I did that a few days back. They were sitting there and I just ate the whole lot. Had got a packet of macadamia and white choc bisc before starting the diet and gave them to hubby and told him to eat them. He left them beside me when he went to bed and I just ate the rest of the packet. Thank goodness it was one of those packets that only have about 9 biscuits in it. So wasn't as bad as it might have been. But they just vanished and I didn't even notice that I had scoffed the rest. We ARE HUMAN well woman might be more to the point. I just got back on with things the next day and didn't beat myself up too much.
Hope the roast lamb and mint jelly was really good.

Okay might give the squash a try then...if I see some around. Certainly wont be growing it up here..  No Way .
The kumera was nice so guess it is perhaps new season. Am loving the new season apples. Have hunters up this weekend and they have an apple orchard over Nelson way and gave a huge box of apples so yummm no fruit problems for me for a while. And the plums keep coming too of course.

PB you might have a bit of trouble finding them as they don't come up in the stores very often.

Ended up going to the local roast place for a quickie meal last night, had Thai Chicken curry, I'm not a big fan of Thai as I don't really like lemon grass, but they didn't use any in this so it was good.

Roast lamb will definitely be tonight, I am looking forward to it. Just been out in the garden and decided to dig up some potatoes for tonights roast. Somewhere in the garden box there was a paper wasp nest, so I am now sporting several stings and don't feel quite as enthusiastic as I was. It has just started raining so that gives me an excuse not to carry on for now.

I have fresh bread in the oven and some homemade vege soup in the fridge so that will take care of lunch.

Funny how our lives revolve around food when we are trying to lose some weight.

This thread is kinda long now, might have to start another one soon, but maybe not today.

Ow Knockout   gosh I won;t do that again in a hurry will I. Embarrassed

The weather here can't decide it is wants to be beautiful sunshine or pouring with rain. I wanted to do some stuff in the garden, but I think a day in front of the sewing machine might be more what happens today.
Still have apples and pears to do but I really don't think I am in the mood to cook at all today. We have leftover lamb so I will do something with that for tonight, maybe a curry or something.

Hubby has asked me not to do our monthly shop this week which is fine with me as I hate going to a supermarket, so meals for the next month will be just whatever we have here. Makes me feel like a pioneer in that if I don't do the work we don't eat. Unfortunately Miss Fussy feed the hens the wrong food last week so we will have no eggs all week now as they are on a 10 day withholding, pigs like getting them though.

Dug up enough potatoes yesterday before the wasps attacked me to last us through the month, and we have beans. carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, pumpkins, chives, spring onions, capsicums, basil, spinach, zucchinis, silverbeet, and I even think there is a little beetroot there somewhere too. Can't remember what else. On the fruit front we have apples, pears, plums(although they are now past there best), figs, lemons, even a few oranges on a small tree, with feijoas to come on soon to. So all up I think we will live without going to the supermarket.
