Thanks Pamela, my lovely vet phoned earlier to see how the weekend went and she says just to keep on doing what I am doing..he isnt at deaths door (yet) but will be if he doesnt eat or take his pills..becomes a vicious circle..doesnt feel good, doesnt want the meds, feels worse, doesnt want to eat and round and round it goes!  Have been at the same point with his father a few years ago and other older animals before that..not much one can do...

This afternoon in a longer walk than I have been doing lately and am about to plan a grocery list around some KK recipes...what type of soup did you make?  The veg one?   Thought I might try the creamy chicken one with coconut but might leave out the coconut Smile as doubt my daughter will like it and not sure about the rest of the family...

Fijoas abound at present so must freeze some as fruit to go with porridge over the colder months...I hope all my daffodils etc come up..planted 60 in one bed and so far there is one lone daffodil up...a real early one I hope...have many tulip bulbs to put in but will wait til its colder next month...they are residing in the fridge at present Smile

What a fantastic job your daughter has, would be so interesting.  Hope that plane buzzes off soon and leaves you in peace..no sign of any top dressing around here as yet..oh well time for coffee...and to think about dinner...

Well I for one find history really dull and pointless, but then I am more of a science person myself. We are set to start a bit history and science study of the sea and sky soon, so it is a good thing that she has decided that she likes history.

We have a few trips up to the BOI planned for next week with the main focus on NZ history, so she may not be a s bored as I thought she would be. Tomorrow she is off to her first day at day camp so I guess history will be put aside for the rest of the week.

Well off to help hubby put in the posts for my new milking bay Smile

Yvonne my soup is really boring, i just cook up carrots, celery and then add 2 tins of tomatoes, adding parsley when I whizz it with the stick blender. I love it and it is of course free so I can have it with all my meals if I wish. I actually love it with my salmon salad sammies at lunch time.
I tried a cooked lunch yesterday and was slow and grotty all the rest of the day so I think I will rethink my ideas and stick with my salmon and salad sammies and soup even in the winter. I always feel good after and my weight is certainly going down so that must be a good sign. Yes
Made yet another batch of my loaf muffins for the freezer yesterday so I am now well stocked for those. I have tried some of the other recipes and they all make really nice muffins and you get two for a serving. So it seems that all the loaf recipes will do this. I love them just as they are, don't need buttering and they are also great to take to town from frozen for my afternoon snack.
The plane eventually stopped buzzing me at 11 am this morning. Was I ever pleased to see the back of it. But have had planes going over all day with the airshow having been on over the weekend I guess those going south are heading home. But they are interesting to see as they are very different and not so noisey.
I hope all your spring bulbs grow well and produce an abundance of flowers to brighten your spring. I should be out in the garden but not in the mood today. Not planting anymore things here as we really only have about another 3 years to go before we sell. But I love my bulbs.

Not a nice day here today so when hubby brings up some wood I will get the fire going and bunk in with some craft things.
Hope the weather is nicer where you all are today and that all is going well with you.
Soup and salad sammies for lunch today and chicken for dinner. Yuumm.

 Smile
Hi ladies, back.  Will apoloise now for typing as on laptop and i hate the things!!
Life has been hectic and flat out and no time for myself whatsoever. However, this weekend the boys are away and the first time since I was married - 26 years, I have not spent a night at home alone.  Wasn's sure if I would cope as I am very scared of the dark and we do live on a couple of acrs and neighbours on two sides are away... boys at the V8s in Hamilton and staying with our best friends. Decided didn;t have anyone ot look after dog except kennels andhe hates them so I would brave itl  Was up till 12 but went straight to sleep and slept all night. quite a relief.  Been out for brunch with a friend and had egg and bacon and toast.  Was my late birthday lunch. We have one for each of us.  We have been friends for 36years.  Started at first jobs together. Had kids together.

Mum seems to be okay. thought it was heart - maybe angina but no signs of that at all or heart attack.  Rubberband pulling around chest was main sympton.  Had been going on for 6 hours by the time she arrived my house.  When I spoke to her in morning she said it was like that and tht she sould lose some weight as she felt quite breathless walking around.  Well went i took her to emergency she was straight on ecg, aspro and oxygen.  Heart is great but her breathlessness has returned.  She needs to go back to the dr.  she has a follow up at the hsoptial in four weeks.  I need to do some googling but i am not that great at that stuff.

Anyway, foodwise haven't been too bad.  I am down from my last weigh andshould get through the weekend.  anyway, i almost feel like i have gone off food the last couple of days, which is great.  my mouth is sore.  great reason not to eat!! haha!!!

Well you all have been doing great at checking in and supporting,

WOW Pamela great weight loss - sure is building up those kilos there.  When I have left overs for lunch the next day -it snot afull blown meal.  I freeze say some of the chicken casserole and just throw it together with some noodles or rice.  I have never been a salad person unfortunately however i had a yum chilli chicken salad with honey roasted walnuts at th e Wine Box yesterday in albany.  It was yummy.

KM hope you having fun with your husband.  Oops, not sur eif that sounds quite right.

Hi Yvonne - sorry about your dog.  I nursed our jack russell and oh it was so sad.  Just wanted to carry him everywhere and he looked so sad.  His last possum up the tree really did him in, but we figured at least we knew he had a great night tha tnight chasing and cornering it. Went up a tree and husband had to shoot it and when it fell down was still partly alive and ran like a crazy thin around orchard and so did our dog.  But he was happy.  He took it back to his house for the night and was very pleased with himself.  We had to have himput down a couple of days later, but he seemed so happy that night.

Oh,want to hear something funny. New dog Benji, who is a pretty woosey dog - such a scaredy cat - spent the day in his fenced area the other day whilst i was at work with a baby pukeko.  I just assumed it would fly ove rthe fence but it couldn't. He spent the whole day in there together and when son came home and saw it he talkbenji to get it and everytime we went near it the pukeko pecked at him - it was very funny.  Snoopy would have had him in a flash!!!  Animals - love them or feel indifferent to them.

shall away and check up later.

Oh Lynda, I am so glad that your mum is OK, that must have been really scary for you both. On the bright side, maybe she will cut back on the baking now and the two of you could support each other.

I have been having a lovely time with hubby thank you Wink Embarrassed. We have been very busy and need a bit of rest before it all starts again next week. My milking bay is half done so that is great news, and Little miss fussy has spent three days at day camp so on friday we went out watch there prise giving and inspect the huts they built in the bush.

We have a fantastic neighbour and it was her birthday on friday, so last night was a pot luck dinner for her as a warm up to her 70th next year. Tomorrow we are booked to go up and do the hole in the rock and some dolphin spotting, so it will an early leaving and late back.

Hubby went to Kiawaka yesterday and got me some more quilting stuff to do Smile he tells me that he doesn't want me to get bored, but I think the real reason is that I have started a lap quilt for him to use while he is on his computer at night and he wants me to get on with it Laugh. Anyway today should be a nice quite rest day so I might get some of it done.

One more week and then I will back into normallity, hubby will be back at work, we will be back to doing school work with miss fussy and I will back kissing. I must say it has been nice to not think too hard about what I am eating, but I am dreading getting back on the scales again. Still how bad can it be in only two weeks.

Your new dog sounds really sweet, maybe you now have another new pet as well Cool

Yvonne how is you old guy going, hope it is not too heart wrenching for you.

PB I hate grocery shopping, I try to do it as little as possible, but find I normally have to venture out and do it about once a month, haven't been able to consistantly reduce that frequency as yet. The garden, orchard and cow certainly help alot there.

Hi there everyone.  Great weigh in last night - now remember I haven't weighed since i put on 1.1 or something which I think was 30 March possibly but I have lost 1.8 so I am delighted and I made it back into the 80s!!!! yeh!!!!  At last.  I have been mucking around for over a year but I have finally done it.

I survived my weekend home alone which was a surprise - first time in over 26 years I have been in my own house alone with no husband or kids.  I even slept like a log at night.  I watched so many dvds and taped programmes and I even went for a walk both days, did all the ironing, polished my table and did some little cleaning up bits and pieces.  I enjoyed it.  Made some vege soup too.  I was so good ont he weekend, thanks to the sore mouth.  Its still a bit tender so its helping the weight loss!!

Haha.
Have a great day

WooHoo Lynda, well done  Party. I hope you did the celebratory dance ot go with it. That is a fantastic loss.
Sorry to hear that your Mum has not been well and that will be stressful for you. But as KM said what a good chance to get her to go KISSing with you.

Ha ha KM the more you say the worse it sounds with your holiday with hubby Wink. I am glad that you have been busy  Wink Wink.
How did the trip on the boat through the hole go. It sounds fantastic. Also how is the quilting going. I have several UFO quiliting projects in the house.

I am plodding along. Yesterday I had an 80th birthday to go to. It was a pot luck lunch and it couldn't have been further from the diet if it had tried. The birthday 'girl' was a guide leader and talk about organised beyond reason. No time to chat everyone was 'told' exactly what to do. Two dished up lunches, two served, two organised drinks etc. You got what was on your plate and smiled nicely.  Yes
We played the games she had organised and got not time for socialising at all. Was strange really. Tried some very different food as there were several different nationalities there.  But it was only one meal and what the heck you don't turn 80 every year. I was by far the youngest there  Yes

Awfully cold down here now. The frost is not thawing in the shady areas so I know winter is very close.

Well Pamela, I guess you don't want to know that I am still wearing open toed shoes through the day. . .
Is getting a little cooler at night here.  I must say I love getting home from work and taking my shoes and skirt off and putting on slippers and tracksuit pants and a cardy!!  We have quite a cold house in winter - cool in summer which is great but it is the original farm house and not built for the sun or anything else!!!  The kent fire is fantastic for the wet back and if you sitting in the kitchen, but go to the lounge and you wonder where it is.  I don't know why the people put it there.  There is an open fire in the lounge - we used once and on't know why we bothered.   Gotta dash.

PB it is not the single meal that will throw you out so don't worry about that one meal, as long as you don't make a habit if it Whistle

You probably don't want to hear that we have not had to light our fire at all yet either, it sure sounds cold down your way.

Our trip north was great. It was a bit of a drizzly day and we were going to do the shipwreak museum. When we got there we discovered that they had turned it into a resturant so we had a morning free until the boat trip. We followed the signs and found a sign that said walking track to the falls. That was all the sign said so off we went on a very pleasant bush walk. Miss fussy saw lots of good things in the bush including a red and yellow toadstool. Then we came to a sign that said we had walked 1km and it was another 4km to the falls. Now that would have been fine if we had a lot of time, but we didn't.
Miss Fussy really wanted to walk on, so we set off at quite a fast pace. Just short of the 2km mark she decided that she might be starting to get a little tired, so we managed to talk her into turning around and walking back to the car, and we drove up to the falls instead. But on the bright side I got an almost 4km walk out of it. Smile

We then checked in at the boat office and found out that they were running a school holiday program, where the kids get to have a goodie bag and they go into a draw to have there families money back on the trip. We didn't know about this when we booked it. We had some lunch, (I had steak. chips and salad) and then got on the boat.

Off we went and then the skipper stopped the boat and to do all the safety checks and told us that due to the 2m swells they had had in the morning they were not going to do the hole in the rock, so that was a big disappointment  Cry. Anyway we went all around the islands and came across a pod of mother and baby dolphins. We spent a reasonable amount of time watching them and they were all very showy with lots of leaps and displays for us so it was all good and very cool. Cool Cool We also came across a couple of Little Blue Penguins floating in the bay. Miss Fussy is penguin mad so this was icing to an already very good day. Yes

We cruised around a bit more and then one of crew members came up to us a said that he seemed to have one goodie bag left over having done the family with seven kids and the family with three kids already, so I told him that Miss Fussy hadn't had one so she was happy to get a big bag of lollies and in the bag was a little orange star the was what they used to decide who got there money back on the trip Laugh Yes thats right we got our money back on the trip, so that made up for not getting to do the hole in the rock. Yes

We then went up to Waitangi and caught a very well done maori culture show, and went through the treaty house, the meeting house and checked out the canoe.

We were going to stop and eat at the shipwreck(resturant) which had a sign our saying that it was open daily from 5.00pm.It was by now 6.00pm so off we went only to find that it was all locked up and not a sole to be seen. So we drove down to Whangarei and ate at cob and co then off home.

It was a very good but tiring day, and we have had lots of social things since then as well.

Today we have nothing preplanned so I am hoping that the milking bay will get finished and I have a fence I need to attempt to fix.

I am not going to do a weighin until wednesday next week, but I can assure you that there will be no loss at all, in fact probably quite a large gain, but then I will have no reason not to be back on plan, so hopefully it will come off easily to get back on track.

We are going to the movies tomorrow which means lots of popcorn, so no point in getting too carried away with dieting yet, monday will be soon enough.

Well it hasn't made double digits during the day here on the farm and it is jolly cold. Minus 5 overnight. The fire is going as I type even. Just lit it and got in heaps of wood for the night. Hubby away so get all these things done early. Mind you the sun is gone and the temperature is dropping rapidly.
KM sounds as though you have been having a wonderful time even if you missed the trip through the hole in the rock. Well done for your daughter getting the free trip for you. How wonderful it is to see the dolphins and penguins. I love it when out in the sounds and we see those.
How is the milking bay going   Cow
Lynda I have to admit that on a nice day if I am going to town I am still wearing sandals. But I do take shoes and socks with me in case. The evils of living so far from town, autumn and spring you take a change of clothes with you.   Yes
Well weigh in today and I mangage a whole 200g. But it is still a loss so I will take it happily. Just a small happy dance.
Just had a drop in drugs and am in a whole lot of pain and wonder if that might have something to do with it too. Have to wait a whole two weeks before having blood tests to see if the drop will be successful or if I need to go back up. The pain is not a good sign. Heres hoping I am still able to walk by the two week mark. Feeling very flat too which is probably not helping. Roll on Friday lunch with the 'girls'. They would love to be called that the oldest is 82 the youngest is me...???? Thirty years between us.
Tried the old fashion steamed pudding the other night when my youngest came home for dinner. It was amazing. Made it in individual little dishes and it looked great too. She is very impressed with KISS food.

Mmmm Steamed Pudding, that sounds like a good thing. One of the big pluses for me with this food plan is that it is just good old plain ordinary food. No special packages of stuff.

I must say PB that I am glad it is not that cold up here. 200g is still a loss and so something to be glad about, keep up the good work. Yes

The fences are all done this morning before it rained, thats because I was in charge of them. The milking bail is hopefully being done as we speak although I can't be sure, hubby is very good at procrastinating Waiting Waiting Waiting. There is not much left to do on it to make it functional, so hopefully today will be the day.

I have a leg of lamb in the crock pot and have been around the garden to sort out the veges. I haven't cooked much over the last two weeks, so it will be nice to have a good home cooked meal, and I might even follow some of the KISS rules Wink Now I just might have to add a steamed pudding to it. My kiss books have been put away for two weeks, so I think I will go and drag them out again and get in the mood. Hungry
