Wow Lynda what a rough time you have been having. Not your year I guess.

We lost the first little lamb, and then the triplets went out in sympathy, so that was not a good week for us.

Miss Fussies pet lamb(sheep now) has had her twins yesterday. Had to assist with both as they were trying to race each other to the finish line. So far they are both fine and she is being a very sensible mother.

I hate sheep and everytime we do lambs I always say that I won't do them again, but the fussies won the discussion this year.

I have managed to eat my way through last week, so as long as I don't gain I will be happy.

Not doing too well on the losses though.

Yvonne how are you feeling, you must be able to do a bit more by now.

Hi ladies.
What good lil farming talk there.  I remember the lambs and the calves.  Hand reared calves when we first moved to our block. Had some sheep too and ended up having to put my hand up to try and pull the lamb out...eeewwwww.  Those days are over.  I remember being so sad when my lil blackie that I reared had a calf and it died.  Oh so sad!!! Not so sad when one of the cows always managed to get the gate opened into the orchards then the dog would see them and all 12 of them would run off down the road and I had to chase them!  They were not good days!!!  Husband was never there when I needed a hand with that and 3 pre schoolers were pretty useless as you can imagine!
Anyway, enough of farming.
I have been eating like a pig (oops that could come under farming) and am no longer at my lowest weight.  Had about 9 days of emotional eating but have stopped today.  Dinged my car by reversing into my daughters car (which I own as well), had a fight with friend in rehab, had a fight with daughter and quite frankly had enough of all of them and, well just ate.
today at lunchtime going up to the bank I heard the ad for Configure Express so joined then and there as I was in the same bit at Northridge Plaza - took it as a sign!!! So tomorrow 7am is my first visit!! Joined for 6 months.  Watch this space......

Glad to hear all lambs have arrived safely..just hope the first one is with his mother now..I didnt realise that you needed to tube feed them sometimes...just like a litter of puppies....my golden girl Anna had a litter of four, small puppies and to try and keep their strength up they where tube fed, sadly all died, didnt know at the time their 2 1/2 yr old mother was diabetic.
Was a long time ago but still sad to think about.  On a positive note Anna did live for another eight years with a daily shot of insulin.

Have started doing things like ironing, changing sheets...the worst problem is the inactivity doesnt help one sleep at night...and I am doing a lot of night time eating at present..and I mean a lot!  Embarrassed  Oh well, once the initial six weeks are up and I have seen the consultant hopefully the remaining weeks will pass quicker...

How is your husbands head?  No after effects to the injury?   Nice day here for a change..would be so nice to get out and tackle the weeds etc....

Well baby is still alive. Made one attempt to reunite her with her mother this morning, but mum was too flighty and distracted, I will try again later.

Unfortunately woke to triplets this morning, I did tell all the ewes that we only wanted nice healthy singles this year, but they obviously were not listening.

The little ewe lamb with the triplets seems to be confused about the whole mother thing, as she is always turning her back on her mother. Haven't seen her feed yet, but she is too bright to have not fed, so I will keep an eye on her and may have to hand feed her as well.

Will have to get some pictures when I have time to think about it.

I am suppose to be going to Auckland today, but at this stage not so sure that will be happening.

Anyway I hope you are starting to feel better, and not so bored.

Little lambie will spend the night inside having two hourly feeds. Shes not sucking yet so still tube feeding which I hate doing, but has finally stood up on her own so that is good.

Hopefully she will be sucking by morning and her mother will take her back, otherwise it will have to be a hand raised baby.

Congratulations on your first new baby Smile  Hope its soon on its feet and back with mum...or will you continue to hand rear it?  Can you use electric heating pads for lambs?  I used to pop one in the whelping box to keep puppies warm til they developed their 'shivering mechanism to keep warm..and was good to have if mum needed a toilet break, babies never got cold.

Glad Im not the only one who struggles with weekends.   Made the kidney and bacon hotpot tonight and it was SO nice!  Well worth trying if you are an offal lover Smile  Made more than needed so leftovers can be husbands lunch.  As I doubled the recipe I did alter it sightly, used canned tomatoes instead of fresh..and left out the carrot as had other veg on the side to go with it.

Potato topped fish pie tomorrow night, not kk recipe but so similar it hardly matters.

Lynda, how is the hay fever?  Hope you are well.   Bye for now  Smile

The first lamb has now arrived, but has failed to stand up. So the big lamb rescue is on again. At the moment it is sitting on a box in front of the heater and is now looking brighter than when I rescued it.

These are the reasons I hate lambing.

My weekends are always out, but the last two weekends I have managed to keep the bad eating to just Saturday. Still alot of damage can be done in one day.

Still no lambs so they are holding out on us, but looking forward to the plums before christmas.

Need to sort out the meals for today so I don't get off track, might be a stir fry again.

Our strawberries need planting//will get them done..of the rain ever stops!  Cant blame the lambs for staying where they are in this weather Smile

The third book of the trilogy isnt quite as good as the first two, perhaps its because I am not a 'cave - underground' sort of person..would rather have sun, rain, wind, grass, animals, plants.....but certainly an author I will be trying again.

How has your eating plan gone this weekend?  With husband cooking here I am somewhat off track but hopefully will get back to maintaining during the week.

Glad you are enjoying the books Yvonne.

Lambs are officially late now as the first one was due yesterday and still hasn't arrived. Still it will come in its own good time.

Have been out between rain drops pulling the buttercups out to the asparagus bed. I have been a bit neglectful over the winter and they have got out of hand. Halfway there, I can at least fine the crowns now, just have to clear the edges now.

Oh and we have our first blossoms on the plum trees so spring is just around the corner.
